Deepfakes, Deep Trouble
Analyzing the Potential Impact of Deepfakes on Market Manipulation

presented by Anna Skelton

Deepfakes, even as a concept, continue to grow and develop. So we’re not seeing that just what we know now as deepfakes is where it stops. This is going to continue to develop as time goes by.

Bob Lord Misinformation Keynote at DEF CON 27

presented by Bob Lord

I’m pretty nervous about the 2020 elections. We’ve seen a lot of little deepfakes here and there. And I suspect it’s not going to surprise you to say that I’m worried that things are going to get far far worse and far more nuanced.

Hacking the Internet of Dongs
Hacking Sex Toys for Fun and Absolutely No Profit

presented by RenderMan

A large number of IoT research firms…yeah, they don’t want to look at this. Because there are stigmas around sex. We have a very weird thing in North America about sex. We’ll watch all the violence we want on television but you can’t see two people have sex.

Biohackers Die

presented by Jeffrey Tibbetts

So grinders are a community committed to radically altering the body. And so sometimes it’s treatments like transcranial magnetic, or direct current stimulation. It could be through the use of previously untested chemicals like VIP. Often it takes the form of implanted devices. All these approaches come with risks. What I’m going to focus on today is why despite all the risks being taken, a grinder hasn’t died yet.

Biohacking: The Moral Imperative to Build a Better You

presented by Tim Cannon

I think that we have a moral imperative to change the human being, given the fact that we are built so flawed and built for a time that we no longer live in. There’s a pretty pervasive belief that we kind of stopped evolving from the neck up. And that we don’t have behaviors that are actually stuck inside the human being, and ways in which we’re in this sort of evolutionary lockstep with what we used to be, and not what we are and what we’ve become.

You Are Not a Digital Native (and that’s OK)

presented by Cory Doctorow

You may have heard people come up to you and say like, Hey, you’re young. That makes you a digital native.” Something about being born after the millennium or born after 1995 or whatever, that makes you sort of mystically tuned in to what the Internet is for, and anything that you do on the Internet must be what the Internet is actually for. And I’m here to tell you that you’re not a digital native. That you’re just someone who uses computers, and you’re no better and no worse than the rest of us at using computers.

How to Overthrow a Government

presented by Chris Rock

I don’t want to live in a world where ISIS is scarier than hackers, especially in 2016. We previously held the title in 2013, 14, and 15. And to be honest I was a little bit disappointed when I saw this result. So I thought I’m in my 40s now, there’s a lot of young hackers in the audience, and I’m not going to pass the baton to you guys unless we have that number one spot back in our pile.
